DROUGHT TOLERANT VARIETIES
Some of these varieties are naturally drought tolerant, and some have shown to be drought tolerant through years of selection.
Tomatoes, when planted in the ground, have an amazing root systems that digs deep and long to find water. Peas are naturally quite drought tolerant. Yet the sibley squash included in this category is drought tolerant through selection : the seed was originally sourced from the Kingston Seed Sanctuary - they are no longer active, but for many years their purpose was to grow drought tolerant varieties in the Kingston area. They proved to be quite drought tolerant time and time again.
