Phaseolus vulgaris

Annual plant, open pollinated.

Bush bean. Snap bean.  Dry bean.

An heirloom bean from the comté de la Beauce in Québec. A very early variety, green pods are splashed with purple mottling. Some say it also makes for a delicious dry bean for baked beans! Disease free and productive plant.

This bean was most likely grown by the St-Lawrence Iroquois Nation.

Days to maturity: 45 days for snap beans.

25 seeds per pack.

Seed starting:

For bush beans, pole beans and runner beans.

Direct seed in your garden once all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Beans do not tolerate frost. Early June is when we plant around here. Sow seed about 1” deep. Darker coloured seeds tend to germinate better in cooler soils.

Pole beans and runner beans need something to climb!
