Suyo long cucumber
Cucumis sativus.
Annual plant, open pollinated.
Originally from Northern China, this heirloom is loved for its long slender fruits that are crunchy, delicious, and not bitter! My absolute favourite cucumber. These grew well in the greenhouse, but they also did marvellously trellised out in the field. I did not water them once, but 2022 was a nice, wet year.
Days to maturity: 70 after transplant.
20 seeds per pack.
Seed starting
Start indoors 2-3 weeks before last frost, at a depth of about 1/2inch. Transplant outside once all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed (June). You can also plant these directly outside in June once the soil has warmed. Cucumbers do not tolerate any frost.
We live and garden on ancestral territory of Algonquin Anishnaabeg People, forever territory of wild fauna & flora, cultivated lands of Irish and French settlers, and now beloved home of the junco seeds family (humans, chickens, dogs, sheep and cats)
