Annual, open-pollinated.

These dreamy sunflowers were growing at the farm when I moved in, and I fell in love. Moonwalker sunflowers, also known as Giant Primrose sunflowers, are tall and graceful primrose yellow flowers around a dark brown center. I always direct seed my sunflowers after the last frost and they do wonderfully in sandy soils. 

Sunflowers are naturally drought-tolerant plants as their root system is resilient and adventurous. 

40-50 seeds per pack. 

Seed starting:

I recommend direct seeding sunflowers directly in the ground after all danger of frost - sow to 1/2inch depth. Sunflowers are very hardy, and grow well in our short season climate. The bigger varieties will grow a big root system with very thick, woody stems.
