Pisum sativum
Annual plant, open pollinated.
Homesteader Pea seeds, also known as Lincoln, are an old homestead shelling type, ideal for fresh eating and freezing. They were first introduced in 1908. It is a high yielding plant that grows to 30” high, producing medium sized pods (4-5”) with 7-9 peas per pod. Does very well in the warmer months of summer. A great choice for small gardens as these vines are quite compact.
Matures in 67 days. Open pollinated.
Package Quantity: 30ish seeds per pack.
Seed starting
Direct seed in the garden as soon as soil can be worked. Sow at 1 inch depth. Peas will climb, so provide them with trellising. They can tolerate a little frost, and they are naturally quite drought tolerant. You can plant them a couple inches apart.
