Green Arrow Shelling Peas
Pisum sativum
These heirloom shelling peas are excellent for fresh eating, freezing, canning or cooking. The pods are born in pairs at the top of the plants, allowing for easy picking. They yield dark green pods that are as long as 4.5”, containing approximately 8 to 10 peas. The peas are tender and sweet. These plants are very resistant to enation, fusarium wilt, root rot, leaf curl virus and downy mildew.
This outstanding variety was first bred in England as a main season pea crop. They are listed in some UK sources as Green Shaft.
Matures : 62-70 days. Open pollinated.
This variety is quite drought tolerant.
Package Quantity: 50 seeds per pack.
Seed starting
Direct seed in the garden as soon as soil can be worked. Sow at 1 inch depth. Peas will climb, so provide them with trellising. They can tolerate a little frost, and they are naturally quite drought tolerant. You can plant them a couple inches apart.
We live and garden on ancestral territory of Algonquin Anishnaabeg People, forever territory of wild fauna & flora, cultivated lands of Irish and French settlers, and now beloved home of the junco seeds family (humans, chickens, dogs, sheep and cats)
