Summer radish. 

An extremely rare variety of radish that has great yields, and a sweet mild taste. The skin resembles that of a russet apple. This variety is extremely hardy and resilient. Yellow radishes are naturally more heat tolerant than other varieties. Dates back to the 1700s.

Seed starting:

Plant directly outside as soon as soil can be worked. Sow 1/4inch deep, thin to about 1 inch apart. Plants like cool weather - plant in spring and fall - radishes will bolt in summer.
