DuPuy lentils are a French variety grown in the Puy region of central France. The seed is a beautiful mottled mix of taupe, green and blues. Lentils are a fun plant to try growing at home - you need a lot of space to grow enough for eating, but it's a sweet plant to get to know nonetheless.

Seed starting

Direct seed in the garden as soon as soil can be worked. Sow 1/4 inch deep. Lentils are very short bush type plants. Plant a few inches apart, in rows 3 inches apart.  They can tolerate a little frost, and they are naturally quite drought tolerant.
