Pisum sativum

This is our favorite pea here at the farm! A huge, curvy, tender and crispy snow pea reminiscent of ‘olde’ seed catalogs. Carouby de Mausanne peas are a very old French heirloom from Mausanne, near Avignon in France. The vines grow tall (up to 5 ft) and need to be trellised, and the pods grow to 5-6 “ in length. The pink and burgundy flowers are borne in pairs, and the seeds are mottled brown. A magnificent and delicious plant. 

Matures : 65 days. Open pollinated. 

Package Quantity: 30ish seeds per pack. 

Seed starting

Direct seed in the garden as soon as soil can be worked. Sow at 1 inch depth. Peas will climb, so provide them with trellising. They can tolerate a little frost, and they are naturally quite drought tolerant. You can plant them a couple inches apart.
