Triticum aestivum.

Annual plant, open pollinated.

This is an old heirloom variety from 1925 that is used for bread (high in gluten). It is a bearded wheat (see the beard?) that is apparently made from a cross made in 1888 in Ottawa.

Most wheat, barley and rye varieties are quite drought tolerant. These have produced very well in many conditions.

Wheat can be grown for straw crafts and weaving! Such an interesting craft, grow your own wheat and explore the exciting world of straw crafts.

50 seeds per pack.

Days to Maturity: 90

Seed starting:

Directly plant outside in the garden as soon as soil can be worked. Sow to a depth of 1/2 inch in straight rows, 3 or 4 neighbouring rows - weed competing plants until it is tall enough to weed them out itself.
