Sorghum bicolor
Sorghum is such a great crop to plant in the garden - medium width stalks, beautiful seed heads, delicious grains. Transform the stalks into syrup, save the seed heads for dry arrangements and decorations, harvest the grain for food.
This variety is very well suited for our northern short season climates. It is originally from Inner Mongolia. Loose heads with plump reddish seeds - this variety is great from grain. The stalks on this variety are not very big, or sweet enough for syrup. This plant puts its energy into plump grains! In China it is made to make alcohol. The name might actually be Báijiǔ, a very strong colourless Chinese liquor, which translates to White Alcohol. Interesting!
